Having worked in most sectors of the print and communications industry – my skills lie in being able to realistically integrate creative ideas with cost effective production techniques, bringing together business development, marketing, and project management to create, install, deliver and distribute most forms of printed matter.
Print Buyer in London, from 1983 – 1993 working for client such as Waterstones, Pentos, Shandwick and became a Director of an award winning design consultancy. Developed the Disney Range of Greeting cards for The Art Group whilst at Anderson Fraser – pioneers of printing on recycled materials, and worked on other leading fine art products many of which were taken up by IKEA. Project managed book and gift products for The South Bank Centre, Financial Services Authority, Terrence Higgins Trust and Glyndebourne Opera.
Pioneered variable content digital colour printing from 1994 working with the first equipment to arrive in London, won the first awards for ‘digital printing’ in Europe and UK, and led the way in short run colour print. Developed the earliest variable content projects for clients including the AA, T Mobile, Audi, Ford, Norwich Union, Tui, Sainsbury’s and Google.
More recently spent three years with St Ives plc, establishing their direct mail orientated digital colour division in Leeds.
In the 1980’s championed waterless offset and the use of finer screens, in the 1990’s established the first Xeikon short run site in London. Helped introduce Neuseidler ColorCopy and established the Xeikon user group going on to win two Xeikon Diamond awards as well as the first Printing World award for Digital Colour printing. Also won Paper Focus + Epica awards. Then in the 2000’s launched web to print at Moore IMS and the largest UK installation of DirectSmile together with early adoption of XMPie cross-media.
In addition to working both as a buyer and a seller, I have produced award winning ‘individualised’ campaigns in the Automotive, Insurance, Consumer and B2B marketplaces and presented to audiences across Europe on the subject of digital colour – including the Institute of Direct Marketing, the Royal Mail and PrintWeek.
